Abu Huraira fortalte, at Profeten sagde: "En mand fra Bani Israel bad en person fra Bani Israel om at give ham et lån på tusind dinarer, og han gav det til ham. Debitor tog på en rejse, men han fandt ikke en båd, så han tog et stykke træ og borede det og satte 1000 dinarer i det og kastede det i havet. Kreditoren gik ud og tog træet med til sin familie, så det kunne bruges som brænde." Og Profeten fortalte beretningen (og sagde): "Da han savede i træet, fandt han sine penge."

Narrated Abu Huraira
The Prophet (?) said, "A man from Bani Israel asked someone from Bani
Israel to give him a loan of one thousand Dinars and the later gave it
to him. The debtor went on a voyage (when the time for the payment of
the debt became due) but he did not find a boat, so he took a piece of
wood and bored it and put 1000 diners in it and threw it into the sea.
The creditor went out and took the piece of wood to his family to be
used as fire-wood." (See Hadith No. 488 B, Vol. 3). And the Prophet (?)
narrated the narration (and said), "When he sawed the wood, he found
his money."

وَقَالَ اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ سَأَلَ بَعْضَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بِأَنْ يُسْلِفَهُ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ، فَخَرَجَ فِي الْبَحْرِ، فَلَمْ يَجِدْ مَرْكَبًا، فَأَخَذَ خَشَبَةً فَنَقَرَهَا فَأَدْخَلَ فِيهَا أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ، فَرَمَى بِهَا فِي الْبَحْرِ، فَخَرَجَ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي كَانَ أَسْلَفَهُ، فَإِذَا بِالْخَشَبَةِ فَأَخَذَهَا لأَهْلِهِ حَطَبًا ـ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ ـ فَلَمَّا نَشَرَهَا وَجَدَ الْمَالَ ".

Fortalt af `Abdullah bin `Umar bin Al-Khattab: Allahs Sendebud sagde: "Jeres eksempel og jøders og kristnes eksempel er som eksemplet med en mand, der ansatte nogle arbejdere, til hvem han sagde: "Hvem vil arbejde for mig indtil middag for én Qirat hver?" Jøderne udførte arbejdet for én Qirat hver; og derefter udførte de kristne arbejdet op til `Asr-bønnen for én Qirat hver; og nu arbejder I muslimer fra `Asr-bønnen og op til solnedgang for to Qirat hver. Jøderne og de kristne blev vrede og sagde: "Vi arbejder mere og får mindre i løn." Arbejdsgiveren spurgte dem: "Har jeg tilranet mig noget af jeres ret?" De svarede benægtende. Han sagde: "Det er Min Velsignelse, jeg skænker den til hvem jeg ønsker."

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar bin Al-Khattab:Allahs Messenger (?) said, "Your example and the example of Jews and Christians is like the example of a
man who employed some laborers to whom he said, Who will work for me up to midday for one
Qirat each? The Jews carried out the work for one Qirat each; and then the Christians carried out the
work up to the `Asr prayer for one Qirat each; and now you Muslims are working from the `Asr
prayer up to sunset for two Qirats each. The Jews and Christians got angry and said, We work more
and are paid less. The employer (Allah) asked them, Have I usurped some of your right? They
replied in the negative. He said, That is My Blessing, I bestow upon whomever I wish. "

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ
" إِنَّمَا مَثَلُكُمْ وَالْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى كَرَجُلٍ اسْتَعْمَلَ عُمَّالاً فَقَالَ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ لِي إِلَى نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ فَعَمِلَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ، ثُمَّ عَمِلَتِ النَّصَارَى عَلَى قِيرَاطٍ قِيرَاطٍ، ثُمَّ أَنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ تَعْمَلُونَ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَى مَغَارِبِ الشَّمْسِ عَلَى قِيرَاطَيْنِ قِيرَاطَيْنِ، فَغَضِبَتِ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى وَقَالُوا نَحْنُ أَكْثَرُ عَمَلاً وَأَقَلُّ عَطَاءً، قَالَ هَلْ ظَلَمْتُكُمْ مِنْ حَقِّكُمْ شَيْئًا قَالُوا لاَ. فَقَالَ فَذَلِكَ فَضْلِي أُوتِيهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ ".
