Fortalt af 'Aisha: Da Allahs Sendebud modtog de første åbenbaringer, var det som retfærdige syn i søvne. Han ville ikke se et syn, uden det kom som daggryet. Derefter fattede han kærlighed til afsondrethed. Han isolerede sig i Hira-hulen og tilbad der i et antal nætter, før han vendte tilbage til sin familie, og han forberedte forsyninger til det. Så vendte han tilbage til Khadija og forberedte forsyninger til endnu en tur. Sådan fortsatte det, indtil sandheden kom til ham, mens han var i Hira'-hulen. Englen kom til ham og bad ham læse. Profeten svarede: 'Jeg kan ikke læse.' Profeten sagde: 'Engelen greb fat i mig og pressede mig hårdt, indtil jeg blev udmattet. Så slap han mig og sagde igen: 'Læs!' og jeg svarede: 'Jeg kan ikke læse.' Så greb han fat i mig og pressede mig anden gang, indtil jeg blev udmattet. Så slap han mig og sagde: 'Læs!' men igen svarede jeg: 'Jeg kan ikke læse.' Derefter greb han mig for tredje gang og pressede mig. Så slap han mig og sagde: 'Læs i din Herres navn, som har skabt (alt hvad der eksisterer), skabt mennesket af en blodklump. Læs! Og din Herre er den mest gavmilde.'
Så vendte Allahs sendebud tilbage med *det* og med bævende hjerte. Han kom ind til Khadija bint Khuwailid og sagde: 'Dæk mig! Dæk mig!' De dækkede ham til, indtil hans frygt gik over, og derefter fortalte han hende alt, hvad der var sket, og sagde: 'Jeg frygter, at der kan ske mig noget.' Khadija svarede: 'Aldrig! Ved Allah, Allah vil aldrig vanære dig. Du opretholder slægtskabets bånd, bærer byrden, hjælper de fattige og nødlidende, byder gæster velkomne og hjælper dem, der ufortjent rammes af ulykke.' Khadija fulgte ham derefter til sin fætter Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin 'Abdul 'Uzza, som var en mand, der var blevet kristen i den præ-islamiske æra, og han plejede at skrive den hebraiske skrift, så han ville skrive fra evangeliet på hebraisk, hvad end Gud ville, han skulle skrive, og han var en gammel mand, der var blevet blind. Narrated Aisha (the mother of the faithful believers):The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allahs Messenger (ï·º) was in the form of good dreams which came true like bright daylight, and then the love of seclusion was bestowed upon him. He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food likewise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet (ï·º) replied, "I do not know how to read." The Prophet (ï·º) added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, I do not know how to read. Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)? Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists), created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous." (96.1, 96.2, 96.3) Then Allahs Messenger (ï·º) returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely. Then he went to Khadija bint Khuwailid and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and after that he told her everything that had happened and said, "I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija replied, "Never! By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You keep good relations with your kith and kin, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guests generously and assist the deserving calamity-afflicted ones." Khadija then accompanied him to her cousin Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin Abdul Uzza, who, during the pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the writing with Hebrew letters. He would write from the Gospel in Hebrew as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost his eyesight. Khadija said to Waraqa, "Listen to the story of your nephew, O my cousin!" Waraqa asked, "O my nephew! What have you seen?" Allahs Messenger (ï·º) described whatever he had seen. Waraqa said, "This is the same one who keeps the secrets (angel Gabriel) whom Allah had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn you out." Allahs Messenger (ï·º) asked, "Will they drive me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said, "Anyone (man) who came with something similar to what you have brought was treated with hostility; and if I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَوَّلُ مَا بُدِئَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنَ الْوَحْىِ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ فِي النَّوْمِ، فَكَانَ لاَ يَرَى رُؤْيَا إِلاَّ جَاءَتْ مِثْلَ فَلَقِ الصُّبْحِ، ثُمَّ حُبِّبَ إِلَيْهِ الْخَلاَءُ، وَكَانَ يَخْلُو بِغَارِ حِرَاءٍ فَيَتَحَنَّثُ فِيهِ ـ وَهُوَ التَّعَبُّدُ ـ اللَّيَالِيَ ذَوَاتِ الْعَدَدِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِعَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ، وَيَتَزَوَّدُ لِذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى خَدِيجَةَ، فَيَتَزَوَّدُ لِمِثْلِهَا، حَتَّى جَاءَهُ الْحَقُّ وَهُوَ فِي غَارِ حِرَاءٍ، فَجَاءَهُ الْمَلَكُ فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. قَالَ " مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ ". قَالَ " فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجَهْدَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. قُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ. فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي الثَّانِيَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجَهْدَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. فَقُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ. فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي الثَّالِثَةَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي فَقَالَ {اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ * خَلَقَ الإِنْسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ * اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الأَكْرَمُ} ". فَرَجَعَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَرْجُفُ فُؤَادُهُ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَى خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتِ خُوَيْلِدٍ رضى الله عنها فَقَالَ " زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي ". فَزَمَّلُوهُ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الرَّوْعُ، فَقَالَ لِخَدِيجَةَ وَأَخْبَرَهَا الْخَبَرَ " لَقَدْ خَشِيتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي ". فَقَالَتْ خَدِيجَةُ كَلاَّ وَاللَّهِ مَا يُخْزِيكَ اللَّهُ أَبَدًا، إِنَّكَ لَتَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، وَتَحْمِلُ الْكَلَّ، وَتَكْسِبُ الْمَعْدُومَ، وَتَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ، وَتُعِينُ عَلَى نَوَائِبِ الْحَقِّ. فَانْطَلَقَتْ بِهِ خَدِيجَةُ حَتَّى أَتَتْ بِهِ وَرَقَةَ بْنَ نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى ابْنَ عَمِّ خَدِيجَةَ ـ وَكَانَ امْرَأً تَنَصَّرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، وَكَانَ يَكْتُبُ الْكِتَابَ الْعِبْرَانِيَّ، فَيَكْتُبُ مِنَ الإِنْجِيلِ بِالْعِبْرَانِيَّةِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ، وَكَانَ شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا قَدْ عَمِيَ ـ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ خَدِيجَةُ يَا ابْنَ عَمِّ اسْمَعْ مِنَ ابْنِ أَخِيكَ. فَقَالَ لَهُ وَرَقَةُ يَا ابْنَ أَخِي مَاذَا تَرَى فَأَخْبَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَبَرَ مَا رَأَى. فَقَالَ لَهُ وَرَقَةُ هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى مُوسَى صلى الله عليه وسلم يَا لَيْتَنِي فِيهَا جَذَعًا، لَيْتَنِي أَكُونُ حَيًّا إِذْ يُخْرِجُكَ قَوْمُكَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَوَمُخْرِجِيَّ هُمْ ". قَالَ نَعَمْ، لَمْ يَأْتِ رَجُلٌ قَطُّ بِمِثْلِ مَا جِئْتَ بِهِ إِلاَّ عُودِيَ، وَإِنْ يُدْرِكْنِي يَوْمُكَ أَنْصُرْكَ نَصْرًا مُؤَزَّرًا. ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْشَبْ وَرَقَةُ أَنْ تُوُفِّيَ وَفَتَرَ الْوَحْىُ.

Fortalt af Jabir bin 'Abdullah Al-Ansari (mens han talte om perioden med pause i åbenbaringen) rapporterede om profetens tale: 'Mens jeg gik, hørte jeg pludselig en stemme fra himlen. Jeg kiggede op og så den samme engel, som havde besøgt mig i Hira's hule siddende på en stol mellem himmel og jord. Jeg blev bange for ham og kom hjem igen og sagde: 'Pak mig ind (i tæpper).' Og så åbenbarede Allah følgende hellige vers (af Koranen): 'O du (dvs. Muhammed)! pakket ind i klæder!' Stå op og advar (folket mod Allahs straf),... op til 'og forlad afguderne'. (74.1-5) Herefter begyndte åbenbaringen at komme stærkt, hyppigt og regelmæssigt.'

Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah Al-Ansari (while talking about the period of pause in revelation) reporting the speech of the Prophet:"While I was walking, all of a sudden I heard a voice from the sky. I looked up and saw the same angel who had visited me at the cave of Hira sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I got afraid of him and came back home and said, Wrap me (in blankets). And then Allah revealed the following Holy Verses (of Quran): O you (i.e. Muhammad)! wrapped up in garments! Arise and warn (the people against Allahs Punishment),... up to and desert the idols. (74.1-5) After this the revelation started coming strongly, frequently and regularly."

قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيَّ، قَالَ ـ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْىِ، فَقَالَ ـ فِي حَدِيثِهِ " بَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي، إِذْ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا، مِنَ السَّمَاءِ، فَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ جَالِسٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ، فَرُعِبْتُ مِنْهُ، فَرَجَعْتُ فَقُلْتُ زَمِّلُونِي. فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ * قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ} فَحَمِيَ الْوَحْىُ وَتَتَابَعَ ". تَابَعَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ وَأَبُو صَالِحٍ. وَتَابَعَهُ هِلاَلُ بْنُ رَدَّادٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ. وَقَالَ يُونُسُ وَمَعْمَرٌ " بَوَادِرُهُ ".

Fortalt af `Aisha: Begyndelsen af den guddommelige inspiration til Allahs Budbringer var i form af gode retfærdige (sande) drømme i hans søvn. Han havde aldrig en drøm, uden den gik i opfyldelse som stærkt dagslys. Han plejede at gå i afsondrethed i (hulen af) Hira, hvor han plejede at tilbede (Allah Alene) kontinuerligt i mange (dage) nætter. Han plejede at tage madpakke med sig til det (ophold) og så vende tilbage til (hans kone) Khadija for at spise sin mad på samme måde igen i endnu en periode for at blive, indtil sandheden pludselig faldt over ham, mens han var i Hiras hule. Englen kom til ham i den og bad ham læse. Profeten svarede: 'Jeg ved ikke, hvordan man læser.' Profeten tilføjede: 'Engelen fangede mig (kraftigt) og pressede mig så hårdt, at jeg ikke kunne holde det ud mere. Han slap mig derefter og bad mig igen om at læse, og jeg svarede: 'Jeg ved det ikke hvordan man læser,' hvorpå han fangede mig igen og trykkede mig en anden gang, indtil jeg ikke kunne holde det ud mere. Så slap han mig og bad mig igen om at læse, men igen svarede jeg: 'Jeg ved ikke, hvordan man læser (eller: hvad skal jeg læse?).' Derpå fangede han mig for tredje gang og pressede mig og slap mig så og sagde: 'Læs: I din Herres navn, som har skabt (alt hvad der eksisterer). Har skabt mennesket ud fra en blodprop. Læs og din Herre er mest generøs...op til..... ..det, som han ikke vidste.' (96.15) Så vendte Allahs Budbringer tilbage med Inspirationen, hans nakkemuskler rystende af rædsel, indtil han kom hjem til Khadija og sagde: 'Dæk mig! Dæk mig!' Hun dækkede ham til, indtil hans frygt var forbi, og så sagde han: 'O Khadija, hvad er der galt med mig?' Så fortalte han hende alt, hvad der var sket, og sagde: 'Jeg frygter, at der kan ske mig noget.' Khadija sagde: 'Aldrig! Men hør de glade nyheder, for ved Allah, Allah vil aldrig vanære dig, når du holder dine handlinger gode med din stamme og dine slægtninge, taler sandt, hjælper de fattige og nødlidende, tjener din gæst generøst og hjælper de fortjente, der rammes af katastrofer.' Men efter et par dage døde Waraqa, og den guddommelige inspiration blev også sat på pause et stykke tid, og profeten blev så trist, at vi har hørt, at han adskillige gange havde til hensigt at kaste sig fra toppen af høje bjerge, og hver gang han gik op på toppen af et bjerg for at kaste sig ned, ville Gabriel dukke op foran ham og sige: 'O Muhammed! Du er i sandhed Allahs Budbringer,' hvorpå hans hjerte ville blive stille, og han ville falde til ro og vende hjem. Og når som helst perioden for inspirationens komme plejede at blive lang, ville han gøre som før, men når han plejede at nå toppen af et bjerg, Gabriel ville dukke op foran ham og sige til ham, hvad han havde sagt før.(Ibn `Abbas sagde angående betydningen af: 'Det er han, der kløver daggry (fra mørket)' ( 6.96), at Al-Asbah. betyder solens lys om dagen og månens lys om natten).

Narrated `Aisha:The commencement of the Divine Inspiration to Allahs Messenger (?) was in the form of good righteous
(true) dreams in his sleep. He never had a dream but that it came true like bright day light. He used to
go in seclusion (the cave of) Hira where he used to worship(Allah Alone) continuously for many
(days) nights. He used to take with him the journey food for that (stay) and then come back to (his
wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again for another period to stay, till suddenly the Truth
descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him in it and asked him to
read. The Prophet (?) replied, "I do not know how to read." (The Prophet (?) added), "The angel caught me
(forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it anymore. He then released me and again
asked me to read, and I replied, "I do not know how to read," whereupon he caught me again and
pressed me a second time till I could not bear it anymore. He then released me and asked me again to
read, but again I replied, "I do not know how to read (or, what shall I read?)." Thereupon he caught
me for the third time and pressed me and then released me and said, "Read: In the Name of your Lord,
Who has created (all that exists). Has created man from a clot. Read and Your Lord is Most
Generous...up to..... ..that which he knew not." (96.15)
Then Allahs Messenger (?) returned with the Inspiration, his neck muscles twitching with terror till he
entered upon Khadija and said, "Cover me! Cover me!" They covered him till his fear was over and
then he said, "O Khadija, what is wrong with me?" Then he told her everything that had happened and
said, I fear that something may happen to me." Khadija said, Never! But have the glad tidings, for by
Allah, Allah will never disgrace you as you keep good reactions with your Kith and kin, speak the
truth, help the poor and the destitute, serve your guest generously and assist the deserving, calamityafflicted
ones." Khadija then accompanied him to (her cousin) Waraqa bin Naufal bin Asad bin
`Abdul `Uzza bin Qusai. Waraqa was the son of her paternal uncle, i.e., her fathers brother, who
during the Pre-Islamic Period became a Christian and used to write the Arabic writing and used to
write of the Gospels in Arabic as much as Allah wished him to write. He was an old man and had lost
his eyesight. Khadija said to him, "O my cousin! Listen to the story of your nephew." Waraqa asked,
"O my nephew! What have you seen?" The Prophet (?) described whatever he had seen.
Waraqa said, "This is the same Namus (i.e., Gabriel, the Angel who keeps the secrets) whom Allah
had sent to Moses. I wish I were young and could live up to the time when your people would turn
you out." Allahs Messenger (?) asked, "Will they turn me out?" Waraqa replied in the affirmative and said:
"Never did a man come with something similar to what you have brought but was treated with
hostility. If I should remain alive till the day when you will be turned out then I would support you
strongly." But after a few days Waraqa died and the Divine Inspiration was also paused for a while
and the Prophet (?) became so sad as we have heard that he intended several times to throw himself from
the tops of high mountains and every time he went up the top of a mountain in order to throw himself
down, Gabriel would appear before him and say, "O Muhammad! You are indeed Allahs Messenger (?) in
truth" whereupon his heart would become quiet and he would calm down and would return home. And
whenever the period of the coming of the inspiration used to become long, he would do as before, but
when he used to reach the top of a mountain, Gabriel would appear before him and say to him what he
had said before. (Ibn `Abbas said regarding the meaning of: He it is that Cleaves the daybreak (from
the darkness) (6.96) that Al-Asbah. means the light of the sun during the day and the light of the
moon at night).

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ،. وَحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ فَأَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ أَوَّلُ مَا بُدِئَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنَ الْوَحْىِ الرُّؤْيَا الصَّادِقَةُ فِي النَّوْمِ، فَكَانَ لاَ يَرَى رُؤْيَا إِلاَّ جَاءَتْ مِثْلَ فَلَقِ الصُّبْحِ، فَكَانَ يَأْتِي حِرَاءً فَيَتَحَنَّثُ فِيهِ ـ وَهْوَ التَّعَبُّدُ ـ اللَّيَالِيَ ذَوَاتِ الْعَدَدِ، وَيَتَزَوَّدُ لِذَلِكَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ إِلَى خَدِيجَةَ فَتُزَوِّدُهُ لِمِثْلِهَا، حَتَّى فَجِئَهُ الْحَقُّ وَهْوَ فِي غَارِ حِرَاءٍ فَجَاءَهُ الْمَلَكُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " فَقُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجَهْدَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي. فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. فَقُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ. فَأَخَذَنِي فَغَطَّنِي الثَّانِيَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجَهْدَ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ. فَقُلْتُ مَا أَنَا بِقَارِئٍ. فَغَطَّنِي الثَّالِثَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغَ مِنِّي الْجَهْدُ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي فَقَالَ اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ". حَتَّى بَلَغَ {مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ} فَرَجَعَ بِهَا تَرْجُفُ بَوَادِرُهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى خَدِيجَةَ فَقَالَ " زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي ". فَزَمَّلُوهُ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الرَّوْعُ فَقَالَ " يَا خَدِيجَةُ مَا لِي ". وَأَخْبَرَهَا الْخَبَرَ وَقَالَ " قَدْ خَشِيتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي ". فَقَالَتْ لَهُ كَلاَّ أَبْشِرْ، فَوَاللَّهِ لاَ يُخْزِيكَ اللَّهُ أَبَدًا، إِنَّكَ لَتَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، وَتَصْدُقُ الْحَدِيثَ، وَتَحْمِلُ الْكَلَّ، وَتَقْرِي الضَّيْفَ، وَتُعِينُ عَلَى نَوَائِبِ الْحَقِّ. ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَتْ بِهِ خَدِيجَةُ حَتَّى أَتَتْ بِهِ وَرَقَةَ بْنَ نَوْفَلِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَىٍّ ـ وَهْوَ ابْنُ عَمِّ خَدِيجَةَ أَخُو أَبِيهَا، وَكَانَ امْرَأً تَنَصَّرَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، وَكَانَ يَكْتُبُ الْكِتَابَ الْعَرَبِيَّ فَيَكْتُبُ بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ مِنَ الإِنْجِيلِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ، وَكَانَ شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا قَدْ عَمِيَ ـ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ خَدِيجَةُ أَىِ ابْنَ عَمِّ اسْمَعْ مِنِ ابْنِ أَخِيكَ. فَقَالَ وَرَقَةُ ابْنَ أَخِي مَاذَا تَرَى فَأَخْبَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَا رَأَى فَقَالَ وَرَقَةُ هَذَا النَّامُوسُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ عَلَى مُوسَى، يَا لَيْتَنِي فِيهَا جَذَعًا أَكُونُ حَيًّا، حِينَ يُخْرِجُكَ قَوْمُكَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَوَمُخْرِجِيَّ هُمْ ". فَقَالَ وَرَقَةُ نَعَمْ، لَمْ يَأْتِ رَجُلٌ قَطُّ بِمَا جِئْتَ بِهِ إِلاَّ عُودِيَ، وَإِنْ يُدْرِكْنِي يَوْمُكَ أَنْصُرْكَ نَصْرًا مُؤَزَّرًا. ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْشَبْ وَرَقَةُ أَنْ تُوُفِّيَ، وَفَتَرَ الْوَحْىُ فَتْرَةً حَتَّى حَزِنَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِيمَا بَلَغَنَا حُزْنًا غَدَا مِنْهُ مِرَارًا كَىْ يَتَرَدَّى مِنْ رُءُوسِ شَوَاهِقِ الْجِبَالِ، فَكُلَّمَا أَوْفَى بِذِرْوَةِ جَبَلٍ لِكَىْ يُلْقِيَ مِنْهُ نَفْسَهُ، تَبَدَّى لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ حَقًّا. فَيَسْكُنُ لِذَلِكَ جَأْشُهُ وَتَقِرُّ نَفْسُهُ فَيَرْجِعُ، فَإِذَا طَالَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَتْرَةُ الْوَحْىِ غَدَا لِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ، فَإِذَا أَوْفَى بِذِرْوَةِ جَبَلٍ تَبَدَّى لَهُ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ لَهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ. قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ {فَالِقُ الإِصْبَاحِ} ضَوْءُ الشَّمْسِ بِالنَّهَارِ، وَضَوْءُ الْقَمَرِ بِاللَّيْلِ.
